Memory ~
- Memory consist of electronic component that store instructions waiting to be executed by the processor.
- Memory size is measured in kilobytes (KB/K) , megabytes (MB) , gigabytes (GB) or terabytes (TB)
- Types of memory :
- when the computer's power is turned off, volatile memory loses it content .
- temporary
- example is RAM
* RAM chip reside on a memory module and are inserted into memory slot.
* 3 basic types of RAM :
- DRAM (Dynamic RAM)
- SRAM (Static RAM)
- MRAM (Magnetoresistive RAM)
2. Nonvolatile
- when the computer's power is turned off, nonvolatile memory does not lose it content .
- when the computer's power is turned off, nonvolatile memory does not lose it content .
- permanent
- example is ROM
* Read-only memory (ROM) refers to memory chips storing permanent data and instructions.
* 3 basic types of ROM :
- PROM (Programmable ROM)
- EPROM (Erasable ROM)
- EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM)
